Cameron Escovedo, a current Clinical Informatics Fellow at UCLA Health, has received this year's CTSI Informatics Fellowship Award. The fellowship's goal is to develop leaders with expertise in biomedical informatics and health information technology, giving them the ability to advance the science and practice of clinical informatics within health care delivery systems.
Prior to receiving this fellowship, Dr. Escovedo recently completed a Chief Resident year in Pediatrics at the UCLA Department of Pediatrics. During this time, he also completed the Resident Informaticist program at UCLA and re-designed UCLA CareConnect’s SmartLinks that automate the population of clinical information into documentation templates. While attending medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Escovedo's research focused on medical education which led to him establishing an anatomy tutoring program and a board review lecture series in Pediatrics. His current and future research will focus on incorporating the measurement of Social Determinants of Health into the electronic medical record, and providing clinicians with decision support on social interventions.
The CTSI Informatics Fellowship will provides experiential training in alignment with ACGME guidelines. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, fellows are eligible for board certification in clinical informatics.
