Master’s and Certificate Programs

Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR)
The Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) Graduate Program is designed to train fellows and faculty to:
Design and conduct clinical research (clinical trials and observational studies)
Successfully compete for funding (e.g., NIH K23 or R01's in clinical research)
Analyze data and interpret research results
Present research at scientific meetings and in the medical literature
This MSCR graduate program is offered by the Department of Computational Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. It is typically a two-year program, including the requirement of a research thesis or capstone project, for those with career aspirations in academic medicine. The MSCR Program has two tracks: Clinical Research/Clinical Trials and Biomedical informatics. Tuition source is required.

Have a desire to become a successful patient-oriented investigator who can bridge molecular medicine and clinical research.
Hold a professional degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, or other clinical discipline, or be a PhD scientist highly committed to clinical investigation, or be a current UCLA medical school student.
Have an affiliation with UCLA, Harbor-UCLA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, or Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science.
The Training Program in Translational Science Certificate Program is a structured, typically two-year certificate program that provides participants with the necessary training to become successful patient-oriented investigators who can bridge molecular medicine and clinical research. Successful completion of this program leads to the CTSI Training Program in Translational Science Certificate from the David Geffen School of Medicine. Participation in the Certificate Program is viewed favorably by K23 study sections. Certificate trainees audit courses, lectures and seminars. The audit option requires no fees, and no graduate credit is given.
