Applications for 1-2 post-doctoral positions for the Regenerative Musculoskeletal Medicine Training grant are open for the academic year 2021 - 2022

The training program is open to any UCLA postdoctoral fellow who is a US citizen or permanent resident and whose research interest focuses on aspects of musculoskeletal biology. The goal of this training program is to provide an in-depth understanding of regenerative musculoskeletal medicine in areas of investigation ranging from development biology and pathobiology to tissue repair and bioengineering. As the goal of this training grant is to foster the development of interdisciplinary scientists, trainees must have a co-mentor in a complimentary field.

Post-doctoral fellows typically enter the program in their second or third year and are required to complete academic and research activities with oversight from a faculty mentor and the training grant committee.

Selected trainees are eligible for up to two years of consecutive funding.

Emphasis is placed on conducting research in special populations, including women, children, geriatric persons, and members of ethnic minority groups. Candidates from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, those with disabilities and/or individuals from economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to respond.

Preference will be given to those with at least one year of postdoctoral training experience.

The applications must be received electronically by 12 noon PST on Monday, February 7, 2022.

Selected candidates and their mentors will receive their determination by email 4-6 weeks after submission.  Funding and appointment dates of the selected candidates will be determined at that time.

Post-doctoral fellows will be required to submit annual progress reports (two pages maximum) and two evaluations, one for the trainee and one for the mentor. The progress report and evidence of active collaboration with the laboratories of the mentor and co-mentor will be essential for potential renewal.
