The online Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR) is a course to train participants on how to effectively conduct clinical research. This course will be of interest to physicians, scientists, medical students, nurses, public health professionals, and all other health professionals planning a career in clinical research.

As a reminder to all CTSI trainees, this course is one of the many possible electives a CTSI Training Program in Translational Science Track 2 student can select. It is also one of the requirements a UCLA Pathways student needs to complete at some point by the end of their 4th year. 

Course Information:

• The course is conducted entirely online

• There is no fee to register for the course
• There is no attendance requirement for the course
• There is no academic credit or continuing medical education (CME) credit offered for the course
• An electronic certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of the course, which is based on receiving a passing grade of 75% or above on an open-book, online, multiple choice final exam
• This course is open to anyone who is interested in enhancing their knowledge of how to conduct clinical research The course textbook, Principles and Practice of Clinical Research, Third Edition (2012, ISBN: 978 0-12-382167-6), is recommended for additional information however it is not required. The textbook can be purchased from several online book retailers
• In order to register for the course, you must be an NIH employee or a participant who is affiliated with one of the course's approved remote sites
• If you are not affiliated with an approved remote site, you can apply to start your own remote site as long as your site meets all of the remote site requirements
