PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

High quality translation depends on research that is feasible, efficient and reproducible. The Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design Program Program (BERD) provides the UCLA CTSI research community with broad access to professional biostatistical collaboration to ensure high-quality research. The program facilitates improved study designs, reproducible and high-quality data collection methods, appropriate analytic strategies and accurate result reporting. This ensures that studies are reproducible, efficient and appropriately designed to maximize the likelihood of impactful research.

BERD faculty and staff statisticians have broad expertise in epidemiology, clinical trials, big data analytics, community studies and high-throughput molecular data/genomics.

PROGRAM AIM

Foster high-quality research through consultation, education and novel approaches.

  • Provide access to biostatistics, epidemiology, study design, high-throughput molecular data analysis, and clinical data management consulting services.
  • Design, develop and disseminate novel statistical applications and methodologies to address the complexities of large-scale clinical EHR databases and clinical trials design.
  • Provide biostatistical education and training to the CTSI research community.
