Program Goal: to train postdoctoral individuals in human genetics for an independent academic research career.
Eligibility Criteria:
- MD and/or PhD degree; preference is given to MDs.
- Research must be in the area of human genetics, molecular biology, cell biology or a related field.
- Dedicated 75% protected time towards the research project.
- Must have future plans of submitting extra-mural grant applications
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Mentors at Cedars-Sinai, UCLA, and Harbor-UCLA, if not already members of the program, must be
- Principal investigators on a non-mentored NIH grant or equivalent
Initial Application Process:
- Fellowship biosketch
- Two recommendation letters addressing the applicant's prior experience and suitability for an academic
- Research career
- A statement from the applicant regarding immediate and future career plans and research interests
Other Details:
- The duration of the award is July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014. (Earlier start is available.)
- Those funded the previous year are eligible to apply again for an additional year of funding. An annual progress report on funding, grant submissions and publication track record is required.
- We anticipate making two to three awards per year.
- Awardees are expected to present their data at the Intercampus Research Retreat as well as a national genetics or subspecialty meeting.
