Former KL2 scholar selected to receive American Society of Clinical Investigation's 2024 Young Physician-Scientist Award
Quen Cheng, MD, PhD, assistant professor in the UCLA Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and CTSI KL2 alum (2020) has been recognized by the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) as a recipient of the 2024 Young Physician-Scientist Award.
Cheng joins UCLA's Elizabeth Volkmann, MD, MS and Ching Zhu, MD, PhD as three of the 52 awardees.
"I am honored to receive the YPSA. I am grateful for the numerous mentors who have poured into me over the years and continue to be my cheerleaders. I am indebted to the training I’ve received at UCLA, and it is an honor to be recognized by the broader physician scientist community," says Cheng.
The Young Physician-Scientist Awards recognize early-career physician-scientists who are within 1-5 years of their first faculty appointment and have made significant accomplishments in their research.
Dr. Cheng research explores the molecular mechanisms of immune reprogramming and how this relates to the variable outcomes of human infections.
In addition to being a former KL2 scholar, Cheng is also co-director of the UCLA STAR Physician Scientist Training Program.
