Call for medical device project ideas for UCLA Bioengineering capstone course
The UCLA Department of Bioengineering is launching a new Medical Device Design track as part of its two-quarter undergraduate senior capstone course. In this course, teams of Bioengineering students will work on identifying and designing solutions for clinical needs, with the goal of improving patient care, enhancing clinical outcomes, and reducing the time or cost of treatment.
The UCLA Center for AI and SMART Health is helping gather project ideas from UCLA Health faculty and staff. We invite you to share clinical needs or opportunities where a medical device can improve care delivery, patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, safety, or access.
Ideas may be at any stage, from early observations of unmet clinical needs to more developed concepts. Faculty and staff involvement can range from simply submitting an idea to serving as an occasional clinical advisor for a student team.
