South LA community conference identifies workgroups to address social determinants of health
Continuing the legacy of Dr. Loretta Jones, Healthy African American Families-II (HAAF-II), the National Clinician Scholars Cohort of 2018-2020, and UCLA CTSI hosted a community partnered conference at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall on July 12, 2019. Over 175 South Los Angeles community members, policy, and academic stakeholders voices were heard regarding the challenges of social determinants of health impacting the community. Participants identified priority issues for which action-oriented workgroups will be formed to address housing, education, violence and trauma/safety, and nutrition and food security.
