Two UCLA investigators receive CTSI-UCLA cart awards

UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) and CTSI have selected two investigators to receive this year's UCLA CART/CTSI Awards which are intended to fund pilot and feasibility studies for biomedical, epidemiological and behavioral research. The purpose of these one-year awards is to foster interactions and interdisciplinary research projects in the basic and clinical areas of autism. 

Below are the awardees for 2020-2021 and their project titles.

• Xia Yang ( UCLA), "Multi-omics Integration to Identify ASD Network Perturbations and Reposition Drugs"
• Abigail Dickinson (UCLA), "Characterizing Distinct and Shared Functional Disruptions across Genetic Etiologies in ASD: A Multivariate Pattern Analysis"

This funding is made available with departmental “Autism Initiative” funds to CART and matching funds via UCLA CTSI pilot funds. Preference was given to projects that are likely to lead to successful future funding. The UCLA CART houses several ACE Networks funded by NIH as part of a nationwide set of research programs. UCLA CART activities are wide-ranging and include the integration of clinical, imaging, genetic, and basic science research to create a synergistic milieu that maximizes the productivity of the participants and attracts other investigators to the field of autism.
