UC Health and UC Braid create a UC-wide COVID research data set
UC BRAID and UC Health have spearheaded the creation of a COVID Research Data Set (CORDS), which will be available soon.
CORDS combines COVID EHR data from the five medical campuses—UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UCSD, UCSF—into a centralized, secure research data set. Access will be facilitated at the local level and investigators will be able to query the data set locally without IRB approval. Expert teams of clinicians, investigators and bioinformaticists from each campus are working together to build and expand the data set.
The five medical campuses, which are Clinical and Translational Science Award institutions, also want investigators to be aware of NCATS Accrual to Clinical Trials, or ACT, a federated data set which allows open access to de-identified EMR data across a national network of leading academic medical centers. The platform provides real-time cohort exploration and discovery to researchers. The COVID data ontology is being implemented and will be available soon through ACT. UCLA CTSI has local information on how to access ACT and a video tutorial. For questions, contact act@mednet.ucla.edu.
