CTSI accelerates the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical treatments

Scientific discoveries take an average of 17 years to be translated into something useful for public health. To speed up the process and increase the impact of government research dollars, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) began funding medical research through the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program in 2006.
