Familiar names and faces join UCLA Biodesign leadership team

CTSI congratulates Dr. Obi Emeruwa, a former CTSI Health Policy and Management Scholar

Dr. Rushi Parikh, the UCLA Biodesign clinical director, is an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and an interventional cardiologist at UCLA Health. Dr. Parikh is the co-assistant director of the UCLA Interventional Cardiology Research Program and is currently funded by a Career Development Award from the American Heart Association and several investigator-initiated, industry-sponsored grants to study post-heart transplant coronary artery disease. He serves as an active adviser to several early-stage medtech startups in the digital health and interventional cardiology sectors.

Dr. Obi Emeruwa, the UCLA Biodesign translational director, is a clinical instructor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Emeruwa is a co-founder of CranioView, a technology that noninvasively measures intracranial pressure in patients who have recently suffered acute neurological injury, and is a recipient of a 2021 UCLA Innovation Fund award.

As UCLA Biodesign’s program development director, Onike Williams will help ensure the program’s involvement with a variety of disciplines and specialties, including the nursing community. A UCLA Biodesign Discovery fellow in 2020-2021, Williams is a nurse practitioner at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center in the Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit and a winner of the 2021 UCLA Innovation Fund for work on a novel respiratory device.
