Former CTSI TL1 postdoc trainee and KL2 scholar receives HCUP outstanding article of the year award
CTSI congratulates Dr. Russell Buhr, a former CTSI TL1 Health Policy and Management postdoctoral trainee and current CTSI KL2 Scholar, on being awarded by AcademyHealth and AHRQ with the 2021 HCUP (Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project) Outstanding Article of the Year Award in the Policy category.
His article, published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, focuses on an interrupted time series analysis of readmission rates for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease under the hospital readmissions reduction program. The paper utilized his health policy and management postdoctoral dissertation research which analyzed the Nationwide Readmission Database in the areas of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and thirty-day rehospitalization.
Buhr will be recognized for his achievement on June 16, during the 2021 AcademyHealth Virtual Annual Research Meeting, being held June 14-17, 2021.
Buhr, now an assistant professor of medicine in the division of pulmonary and critical care at UCLA, was a CTSI TL1 postdoctoral trainee from 2017-2018 and later received his CTSI KL2 award in 2020.
