xTrain Redesign in eRA Commons

The NIH will be adjusting the following xTrain module functions in eRA Commons on March 30, 2023 in order to streamline workflows and present a more user-friendly interface. The xTrain module is used to process research training appointment reappointment information for institutional training, career development, fellowships, and research education awards.

Major adjustments include:

  1. Trainee Signatures to be required on reappointments and amendments
  2. NIH Agency Staff will no longer be able to delete records that have been submitted by recipient organizations (recipient organizations will maintain the ability to delete documents)
  3. More efficient management and processing of terminations and appointments
