Ziva cooper receives the first HIV extinction project award
The UCLA Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), AIDS Institute and CTSI have selected Ziva Cooper, Ph.D., associate professor in the Semel Institute at UCLA, to receive the HIV Extinction Project Award to support her research on the impact of cannabis use and route of administration on HIV-associated inflammation.
The award is designed to encourage multidisciplinary collaborations in biobehavioral research in order to facilitate the development of preliminary data that will be leveraged for future submissions of program project applications or equivalent funding mechanisms. Collaboration with CTSI institutions (Cedars-Sinai, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Lundquist Institute/LA BioMed and UCLA) is also strongly encouraged.
The award will provide Cooper with a total of $100,000 over a two-year period.
