Carol Mangione

Carol M. Mangione, MD, MSPH, Associate Director for the CTSI and leader of the CTSI Workforce Development Program, has been appointed to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force where she will join a diverse group of health experts working to improve the health of all Americans by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services and preventive medications. Task Force recommendations have informed clinical standards for many professional societies, health organizations and medical quality review groups.

Dr. Mangione is the Barbara A. Levey, MD, and Gerald S. Levey, MD, Endowed Chair at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, professor of medicine and health services at UCLA and professor of public health at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She also serves as director of the UCLA/Drew Resource Center for Minority Aging Research/Center for Health Improvement of Minority Elderly, co-director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at UCLA, associate director of the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and assistant dean and director of the Research Training and Education Program for the Clinical and Translational Sciences at UCLA. Dr. Mangione is also a practicing primary-care physician in the UCLA Faculty Practice Group. Her areas of expertise include diabetes, health disparities, aging, and public health.
