Improving diversity in clinical trials
Cross-site initiatives with our hub partners
Our Mission
To improve diversity in clinical trials across our institutions, CTSI is identifying specific areas for improvement, designing and developing joint interventions, using uniform metrics to measure outcomes, and establishing best practices that can be shared with the CTSA network.
Our Aims
- Language Justice: Ensuring that clinical trials receive informed consent in the correct language and have access to appropriate interpretation at different phases of the study.
- Developing Pathways across California to leverage verified translation resources
- Collaboration with the Health System
- Trial Equity: Ensuring underrepresented individuals are included and have access to clinical trials.
- Work with Partner Sites and Community Partners to ensure clinical trial infrastructure to support trials is more widely available and accessible
- Research Themes and Topics that address the needs of the Community
- Trial Diversity & Inclusion: Enhance the inclusion of a diverse population representative of Los Angeles on clinical trials.
- JEDI Training for Research PIs and Clinical Research Coordinators to ensure access and address bias
- Community Educational Design Campaign around the What and Why of Clinical Trials
- Do inclusion/exclusion criteria restrict specific communities
