UCLA’s Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) leads and advances campus strategies for enhancing equity, diversity and inclusion; protecting civil rights; and upholding dignity for all in our community. As a land grant institution, the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at UCLA acknowledges the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands). UCLA’s Office of EDI provides quarterly updates and statements, key reports and clarifications on policies, procedures, codes of conduct, norms, and freedom of speech on campus.

Other programs include:

  • Civil Rights Office: In 2020, UCLA’s Office of EDI unified existing civil rights investigatory units under the new Civil Rights Office (CRO) which services UCLA’s campus and the UCLA Health System, and is led by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights. CRO ensures that UCLA remains in compliance with federal and state law and applicable UC policy concerning protections under Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and equal employment opportunity and affirmative action obligations.
  • Our Partners: To realize the mission to build equity for all, the UCLA Office of EDI works with invaluable affiliated partners including Equity Advisors who leverage their direct experience with local culture and climate to advise their deans in terms of strategy, policy, training, climate, and accountability; and a student advisory board (SAB) to serve as liaisons, problem solvers, and advocates who will support the Office’s mission of building equity for all.
