Study
Integrated Community Engaged, mHealth, and Data Science to Enhance Clinical Trial Diversity and Cardiometabolic Health
Partnering institutions
- UCLA, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Washington State University
Study objective and aims
- Integrated Community Engaged, mHealth, and Data Science to Enhance Clinical Trial Diversity and Cardiometabolic Health (iDIVERSE) is a collaboration of University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Hawaii (UH) in Honolulu, and Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman to address disparities in clinical research in multiple diverse populations. While all 3 partnering institutions will conceptually address their respective clinical trials to mitigate cardiometabolic disorders, all 3 institutions will focus on the central theme “improving participation in clinical trials” with respect to their populations underrepresented in research. Specifically, Project #3 is led by Drs. Zhaoping Li, Arleen Brown, and Alejandra Casillas (UCLA) to address African American/Black, Asian/Filipino and Latin American trial participants. This initiative is funded by the American Heart Association Strategically Focused Children's Research Networks. The CTSI Community Engagement and Research Program also helps to provide administrative support and networking platforms for community engagement presentations.
