Recruitment Plan
Alert
Please review new SF242 Forms I and Parent T32 NOFO requirements (PA-25-168).
Note: This component was formerly part of the 25-page program plan, but as of January 2025, is now a separate document.
Mentors are expected to actively participate in recruitment. In this document, “recruitment” means outreach efforts intended to encourage individuals to apply for the training grant program, occurring prior to the candidate selection process. This document should address:
History and Achievements
- Describe efforts to recruit individuals from broad array of individuals from a variety of backgrounds
- If applicable, refer to data presented in Table 6A/B and Table 7 to demonstrate the program’s record of recruiting and properly supporting trainees from all backgrounds
Proposed Plans
- Consider the success and/or failures of past recruitment strategies
- Describe specific efforts to be undertaken and how these relate to recruitment efforts of the medical school, graduate school, and the university at large
- Highlight efforts to recruit from different types of institutions
- Training grant faculty are expected to be actively involved in recruitment efforts
- Just describing institutional recruitment practices alone will not be sufficient to satisfy this requirement
- For New Applications only: Describe plans to enhance recruitment as the program progresses with specific strategies to target trainees from all groups
- For Renewal Applications only: Describe in detail experiences in recruiting trainees from all groups during the previous funding period, including what was successful and unsuccessful; note how the proposed plan reflects the program’s past experiences in recruiting individuals from a variety of backgrounds; reference information from Table 7
